Custom Watercolor Silhouette Portraits – A Story Behind

Hi there, today I am sharing with you one of my best seller story. The Custom Silhouette Portraits

The Story Behind My Silhouette Portraits

It all began with my love for the elegance of Victorian silhouettes. I was fascinated by the way a simple cut of paper could capture someone’s essence — the curve of a cheek, the tilt of a chin, the shape of a hairstyle.

But I wanted to take it further. I thought: what if these silhouettes weren’t just shadows in black, but living portraits full of softness and color?

So I began to experiment. Instead of paper cutouts, I started painting them by hand, using watercolor to bring out the delicate features — the roundness of cheeks, the sparkle suggested in an eye, the fine line of eyelashes.

That’s when I realized: these portraits aren’t just outlines, they’re stories in color. Each one preserves a fleeting moment of childhood — a baby’s soft profile, a child’s growing features — and turns it into an heirloom.

Every silhouette I create carries a little of that Victorian inspiration, but it’s also something modern: warm, whimsical, and personal. A way to celebrate your loved ones with art that feels timeless but alive.

Every portrait begins with a photo you send me. From there, I sketch and paint the delicate profile of your child or loved one. But here’s where the magic happens:
I also design hand-painted backgrounds that frame your portrait. From soft checkered patterns to whimsical floral motifs, every detail is painted by hand so your artwork becomes more than a portrait – it becomes a story.

Endless Possibilities

  • Single Portraits – Perfect for capturing a baby’s first years.

  • Sibling Portraits – Two or more profiles together, creating a family treasure.

  • Custom Backgrounds – Choose soft florals, classic grids, or let me create a pattern inspired by your child’s world.

  • Digital or Print Options – Receive a high-resolution file or a museum-quality art print shipped to your door.

 A Gift From the Heart

Whether it’s a Christmas surprise for grandparents, a Mother’s Day keepsake, or a way to celebrate a new baby, these portraits are the kind of gifts that don’t fade with time. Families tell me they become heirlooms, passed down for generations.

 How It Works

  1. You send me a  Profile photo,

  2. I hand-draw the portrait in watercolor.

  3. You choose the background style (or let me surprise you).

  4. Receive your  piece digital and a printed copy ready to frame and treasure.

New Artdolls, different bodies.

It’s been a while since I updated with new dolls. Recently, I did two dolls—one little art doll, Josephine, and one bigger doll, Madeline. Madeline is truly special. The difference between these two girls is not only the size. Her body was made with fabric, while only the extremities—like the head, hands, and feet—were crafted from air dry clay. I love working this way, trying something new. And of course the fabrics are vintage.     I recently saw Orlando, and far from the customes in the movie, I kept the image of the protagonist using a big bowl, so I decided to go for it—and I really like it. The good thing, though, is that Madeline has a little basket I made from scratch. I’m proud to have achieved something so tiny and intricate. It may not be the best woven basket in the world, but I’m pretty happy with the result. And of course, Madeline is happy with her sun cap and the big, big bow on her neck. The fabric bow is very special. It’s...

Let the Light shine over us _ New ceramic pieces

It’s not easy to think about the holidays right now, but maybe that’s why I wanted to. A small break from everything else, a quiet table in the middle of the noise. A few weeks ago, I took out my red clay and started to shape things — thinking about what I’d like to have on my festive table this year. I kept thinking about light. And, somehow, angels. I know — I’m not really the kind of person who expects angels to show up (they’re probably busy). But I do believe in light. The kind that warms a room, or softens the edges of a long day. I want this end of the year to feel calm, surrounded by love. Simple things. A nice dinner, a sweet bite, little chocolates that disappear before the candles melt. And while I was thinking about all that, these small clay figures started to appear — almost on their own. So here they are: trees with faces, angels, lambs with stars on their heads. If you’d like to bring one home, you can find them in my Bigcartel shop. See you soon.
